I took a look at this. Excellent work on his part!

I still use windows and Metro is just forced full screen apps that dont even work with the desktop classic . One thing apple got right was not to mixed iOs with MacOS (or whatever it is you guys call it) - Microsoft once again tried to stuff the kitchen sink into one OS.

I'd actually like to - corny as it sounds - literally just have a smart widows logo floating around. It pops up when I hit the windows button on the keyboard, and it always finds an empty blank spot on the desktop to appear in to be ready.

When i click on it this floting windows logo has literally four flyouts from it that contain a way to access apps, documents, email, and yuch - social feeds. (maybe its configurable so its for settings) - might work well for touch screens too.

Of course these flyouts would be configurable to be a palette of your choice.

Of course I'm not a designer and have terrible ideas - so into the ether with this rant and Prepare for downvote!

incredible! That is a great offer, and NY is hard on you for rent. I wonder how recent your startup has to be or can you just legally change entities and operate anew.

I have a new startup coming together that I am just about to setup in NYC. Awesome!

i have a sleazy friend that hires people from overseas on fiver to drive him to the top of local search results and drive the competition to the bottom.

It's easy and it fits in with his personality! He truly makes $$$$$ sitting at home. He should make a Pay for Seminar

Sounds like a multi-user online whiteboard more than a email.

Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen when you invite your spouse to the wrong google "wave"

thanks for this, I think i might spend some time and $$$ going for this challenge

Just a quick smattering of thoughts:

You can get free DropBox space when you buy android tablets and phones. I think between a tablet and a htcone I scored like 500GB's at Dropbox.

Public cloud is not for sensitive data - its for transferring lame documents and media between places. Usually the people who are worried about security for data in public forums usually dont actually have any data anyone wants to steal.

they arent hard - you know whats hard? Realizing the winners always already had a prototype (software or hardware) and really just practice their sales pitch for two days for the win

But hey - we now all know you dont win by actually starting the day of the hackathon

As a student who's been at several hackathons (and won some of them), fuck those guys!

Aww. Just as I started watching their expensive TV shows! Alpha House season one was really good.

I also liked the shipping - but now that I have seen Paris at $75 will I want it at $110?

Alpha House was really, really good. Even so, I wouldn't sign up for Prime just for Alpha House. If Amazon is serious about it's own content, bundling it with a free 2-day shipping subscription probably doesn't make sense.

everything is traceable.

I mean if I was going to do it, I would actually get a raspberry pi and either a board mounted wifi or a usb wifi adapter and then run this.

portable and away from something silly like you uploading a JPG with EXIF data to a server from the same MAC address.

why is this guy getting so much press for a twitter name when people are starving in the world and there are ideas to be made manifest?

Can someone explain it to me a a complete moron?

By your logic, all but the most heinous of crimes are trivial and do not deserve any attention. Obviously that's not true. You could also use that method of thinking to minimize the trials and pain of almost everyone in the world because they're not starving Africans. "I mean, there are kids starving on the streets, shut the F up already about getting fired."

there are people starving in other places besides Africa. I see you just did a knee jerk reaction and didn't answer my query.

What's so important about N and this twitter name that the world has to stop just for him to get it back?

The world doesn't have to stop, Twitter just needs to give the original owner his handle back. The evidence that the original owner was extorted to give it up has been making the rounds on HN for the past day or so.

Believe it or not, the author received a $50,000 offer for "@N" before, so there's non-sentimental reason behind it as well.

Obviously Africa was just used as an example...

Who said that this story is "important" anyway? It's a story for sure, and it's interesting that someone would be offered 50k for a twitter handle and then have it stolen, but you're the one propping up a straw man. No one ever said this is an "important story".
