Used a ton of his money to get republicans elected so that he could get an illegal position within the government to illegally cut oodles of programs leading to the unnecessary deaths of a huge number of people?

So? Imagine he sells all his ownership and this tanks the value of his companies by 90%. Oh no. He only has $100,000,000,000 in the bank. Enough to be ludicrously rich a thousand times over.
I have never once understood this "oh it is only paper money" argument.
I'm just saying that when you say "trillionaire" it evokes the idea that he's hoarding $1T in a bank account. But it's almost entirely just locked up in shares of companies, and if he actually wanted to turn it into cash it wouldn't actually be 1T.
Yeah, it's all scifi posturing. Same with the "Optimus will begin colonising Mars in 2026" line that they were still pushing just a few months ago.
There's perhaps a chance that some part of it might happen someday, but right now the main thing is to distract attention from Tesla's lack of model development and SpaceX's much-vaunted AI business being based on reselling datacentre space at a loss.
Damore had been aggressively arguing about this stuff internally for some time in advance of his doc. The doc was consistent with a pattern of "makes a huge stink of things in every training and refuses to back down."
Okay, here's what I still don't understand. Were the things he was “making a huge stink about in every training” true or false? Reports at the time claimed that he was ”perpetuating harmful stereotypes,” but other reporting claimed that he was pointing out facts that inconveniently challenged the cultural orthodoxy and then wrote the doc to clarify his feedback, and so he became a target for internal activists. Are you aware of any specifics that would allow a reasonable person to lean one way or another as to the reality?
Clinton as a sex pest is a more recent narrative. At the time the media coverage was not about how he was abusing an intern. It was about how he was debasing the office and how Lewinsky wasn't even that hot. It was certainly not the narrative from the right that Clinton was an abuser.
Trump blames Biden for January 6th. When, you know, Trump was president and Biden had not yet assumed office. Dude is simply constitutionally incapable of being a serious person.
A literal toddler for president. Swings his dick around and manages to fuck up global supply chains. Now he is back online talking about invading Iran and taking all of its oil infrastructure.
I'm reminded of a Simpson's episode where Arnold Shwarzenegger is elected as President, given 5 stacks of papers with briefs of options, and he picks one at random without reading it saying "I was elected to lead, not to read!"
These are all examples where commenters have confidently said that this specific thing is the cause (independent of any data). It is a little odd on a story about how the actual experts are working hard to understand the (likely multifaceted) causes of this trend that there are oodles of people just declaring "oh it is obviously this."
