People have taken you for granted. 1. Be vocal about what you want, be it a raise or promotion! This is America. If you don't ask, you don't get anything. Are you an American? 2. You have other options! Go make your own awesome startup. If you have so many skills like you said, why not? 3. Are you aware of your own weaknesses? Maybe there is major weakness about you that stopped you from getting promoted but you are not aware of it!

People have taken you for granted and don't care about you, period. 1. Be vocal about what you want, be it a raise or promotion! This is America. If you don't ask, you don't get anything. 2. You have other options! Go make your own awesome startup. If you have so many skills like you said, why not? 3. Just out of curiosity, are you white?

I find this article immensely useful to someone relatively new to the tech industry. While politics isn't the core topic on Hacker News, it is a reality that affects everyone's life! The question we all should ask is "what would we do if it was me?' Very seldom do you see what happens in a big company like Amazon. The shared article offers great insight that you cannot find anywhere else. To pessimizer, just because you don't learn anything new in this article does not mean it is not useful to others. Your flagging it is rather self-centered.

If enough people use this hack, then we all end up with tons of false positives. That means we all have tons of matches as a result but few of them are real matches!

A better idea for Tinder is to charge a dollar to both people of a match so people will swipe with more consideration! The current scheme of things encourages frivolous insincere interaction.

PS: I am looking for new talented tech(ruby,js,ios) friends in sf. I am a rubyist. legendben@gmail

That's probably because it's a hookup app.

Hello people, for those who bash TED, what have YOU produced for the betterment of human understanding of ourselves and the world around us? At least TED inspires people to think about things in new ways no matter how popularist it has become. Maybe instead of bashing TED, talk about how you would make it better if you were to run it AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I think the author failed to recognize the advertising effect of running daily deals. Yes you are likely losing money for the deal itself as a merchant, but how do you quantify the advertising effect of having your restaurants featured on a nationally known website. Advertising on Groupon.com should not be free, should it? I agree that daily deals does not magically make a business more successful. I think business should focus on quality and innovation of product and service for long term success.

This is always the stated benefit to merchants. The author didn't miss it.

What's failed to materialize is any ROI on the Groupon "advertising" channel. The ads aren't working. Therefore the merchants are no longer buying.
