I'm so sorry that everyone's bleating about a bit of text in the header text rather than the actual product you've created. Sometimes HN is all about finding any hole to nitpick over.

From jitsi.org/user-faq/

> We are fortunate that our friends at 8×8 fully fund the project. 8×8 uses Jitsi technology in products like Virtual Office. The open source community and meet.jit.si service help to make Jitsi better, which makes 8×8 products better, which helps to further fund Jitsi. This virtuous cycle has worked well in the past and should continue to for many years to come.

Gah, I'd read the FAQ but somehow missed that, thanks!

Things being recognised and never/rarely acted on is better than them going unrecognised entirely. At least in the former scenario, there's a shared awareness of the problem.

There isn't. Raising an issue without ever fixing it is very demotivating and causes a "fuck it" attitude.

Everyone being aware of an issue without it ever being raised or acknowledged is equally demotivating and results in the same attitude.

Same thing. Issues that are known and don't get fixed are demotivating.

I can see how someone might believe he can/should be forcibly removed in order to address his apparent health issues, but why not allow him to return afterwards? Seems a gap in the story.

Have you _seen_ what Skype has become?

MS may not be dreadful across the board any more, correct, but they absolutely have it in them to wreck a perfectly serviceable product once acquired.

Bottom left; click the little person icon. A modal pops up asking you to enter the user ID of the person you wish to chat with.

There are valid complaints to be made about Riot's UI, but I really don't think that's one of them.

We did that many times, but nothing appeared on each other's screen, it seemed as if the IDs were being sent to /dev/null.

Created my account just to respond to this.

Alfie Evans was allowed to die based on unanimous, qualified medical evidence that was placed before the judiciary, which is entirely separate from the government. This ridiculous idea of "the government putting him to death" that's doing the rounds in the US media at the moment is disgustingly disingenuous and, what is worse, factually far from the mark.

Alfie's parents, at no point, owned his life. He did, and every qualified, trained medical professional agreed that it was not in HIS interests to be kept alive with no realistic hope of recovery. It's dreadfully sad and I don't in the least blame the parents for wanting a different outcome, but this is Terri Schiavo all over again with the added media abuse of the fact that it's a child to further their own agenda.

>> every qualified, trained medical professional agreed

Except there were offers from international hospitals and doctors who disagreed and wanted to treat him. It's in the article I linked to.

And, as you point out, the UK legal system shut that down.

No. Those hospitals were not offering anything other than palliative care.

He had no brain! There's no possible treatment.
