It always amazes me [wrongly] how much money niche sites/services can make.

If anyone is looking for a good niche, Quickbooks utilities is one. Things like import/export, mass update, Sql access, synchronizing, Paypal integration, etc.

Tools do exist, but they are very clunky and expensive. It's also easy to read user forums and see what's needed, where existing tools fall short, etc. And then market your solutions in the same forums.

Awesome :) Will drop you a note now!

Great thanks! Glad you like it! We've some ideas - we think it'd make a cool iPad app and have also explored merchandising opportunites but for now we are just enjoying seeing people come to a site we created! It's a bit of a buzz for us and if it doesn't make any money but people like our site, and get inspired by our content, then that's a real win for us.

Hi guys,

We launched our weekend project about 2 weeks ago (http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5206662). And have made a lot of improvements, including the ability to sign up to daily emails.

However, our big development is we found the layout of our site played nicely to include tributes of people who have changed the world - like Steve Jobs. So on some days, we will provide slideshows, like this one which showcase an indivduals best quotes.

So our site has morphed into a daily inspiration site but also tribute pages to those who inspire us the most.

We'd love to hear your feedback if you have any.

Thanks, sw1205 and jebarnes88

For full disclosure - my friend (sw007) and I run this site. We don't make money from the site - it's just a fun project. But this is one of our favorite ever quotes and figured HN crowd would like it and we wanted to share it with you as it not a particularly well known quote.

Thanks

Steve

Thanks - really appreciate it. Sorry again.

It's not the first 11,000 - it seems they could have 100,000 apply but they select which 11,000 go in to the club. So you may be wasting your time writing a bot..

Ah no, so I run overground and work out the routes before each run - so I actually run a lot further than the tracks but I hit every tube station and get a picture outside each one!

This is great - thanks for all your comments guys. I will read through all these links and build them into the presentation. I will also share the presentation with you all if any of you are interested.
