I read somewhere that this is a useful trick for web apps - if the user gets a null result it can help to give them a tiny timeout - then they think that at least the computer

to find some results.

I do it - when the site is using ajax I add a deliberate wait, especially for saves. I often do it for reads as well (depending on what it's doing).
